Knebworth House

On the 15th June 2006 the Paviors' Luncheon Club visited Knebworth House, in Hertfordshire, England. Paviors and guests were treated to an intriguing and fascinating tour of the House. It seemed that almost every square foot held a "story" of literary, historical, political or artistic interest.

Knebworth is now known the world over for the huge open-air rock concerts but not everyone is aware of its history and romance.

A much enjoyed lunch was served in the "Barns" adjoining the House and a walk in the beautifully manicured grounds followed.

All in all this was an exceptional day out.

The George Inn

On a very pleasant day in early September, 30 members of the Luncheon  Club enjoyed a convivial and spirited lunch at the George Inn in Southwark. The menu was smoked salmon, rack of lamb and fruit crumble, finishing with coffee and mints.

The George Inn is an old coaching house and was mentioned by Charles Dickens in his book Little Dorrit. Today it is a thriving tavern and restaurant.

The third draw of the 200 Club took place with two out of the four winners being present at the lunch.  Members of the 200 Club should note that the odds of winning improve if one attends the Luncheon Club lunches!

Prior to the lunch the Liverymens' Committee met and after lunch the Industry Committee held its meeting at the George. Those attending the Industry Committee were a little surprised to see that whilst they had been working on behalf of the Company, a number of the diners had purchased more wine and were spending a very happy afternoon in the sunny courtyard of the George Inn!
